Fuel rail
The fuel rail stores the fuel at the injection pressure. Its fuel reserves are available to all the fuel injectors.
In addition, the stored fuel volume provides damping for pressure waves created by the pulsating fuel supply of the high pressure pump and the short-term high fuel extraction rate during injection.
The pressure regulator valve and the fuel rail pressure sensor are attached to the fuel rail.
The two rails contain a total of eight restrictors (0.8 mm). The restrictors are installed to minimize pressure waves.
